Part time robot and full time house soldier, the Vancouver native known in boom-clack boom-clack circles as Jay Tripwire has spent the last 16 years pushing his brand of dance music. You could call Tripwire a jack of all trades; he’s made brazen 909 techno romps, produced some of the most luscious deep house in recent years and during the late nineties was celebrated as one of the major players in the west coast dub house scene.
He’s a favorite at London’s Fabric club and recently played a deep house set there alongside his old friend DJ Halo of H-Foundation fame.
Fabric is just one of the stops on his current tour to support his first ever full length album entitled “Gemini Soul” out on Nordic Trax. Beatportal caught up with him in Bulgaria.

Fantastic EP from Marlon D, with each of the three tracks strong enough to warrant a solo release.
The irreverent ‘Jesus Creates Sound’ is a drum lead affair, incorporating frenetic hi-hats and cymbal clashes, eerie effects and resulting in a heads-down stomper of a track.
‘Deep Spiritual Journey’ is, as the name suggests, deep, deep, deep.
Warped bass stabs and techy interjections give the Main Mix a dark intensity, while the Dub strips things back even further to produce an incredibly moody gem.
‘Dance 2 Da Beat’ is without a doubt the most upbeat of the trio and has already proved to be a hit amongst the big name DJ’s. With a bouncin’ bassline and an equally bouncy vocal, this is set to prove that Marlon D is certainly one to watch, and is already generating support from those at the very top of the DJ food chain, including Kenny Dope, Mr V, Roger Sanchez and Danny Tanaglia.
