Until recently, Jamie “Jimpster” Odell was somewhat of an unsung hero of the house music world. A well-respected and highly in-demand producer on our shores for many years, it only seems to be the past 2 years that have seen his name garner the far-reaching international acclaim that it deserves.
His effective raison d’être, Freerange Records, was set up in back in 1996 to push a deeper side of house music, infused with jazz and soul but without being too twee or dare we say it, loungey. Over the years the label has been instrumental in bringing through some of the most exciting talents in house music – from Trevor Loveys and Switch, to Mike Monday, to Shur-I-Kan and Milton Jackson, as well as exposing international artists like Manuel Tur, Stimming, Spirit Catcher and Motorcitysoul. It’s a byword for quality, heartfelt, sexy grooves, and engenders a fanatic following……
